i feel like the reasons feminists are always told we’re overreacting is that once you are aware of the structural oppression women face, you start seeing it.
and you start seeing it everywhere, because it is everywhere. in advertisements, music, movies, academia, sport, everywhere.
but the mere act of pointing it out becomes an offense because men don’t want to be reminded of what they do to women, and sexist women don’t want to face the cruelty of their treatment at the hands of men.
so instead of listening and believing, men and anti-feminist women just pretend it’s all lies, and women have been called histeric and crazy for millenias so it’s not even hard to make it seem like feminists are the crazy ones and not the people who simply cannot accept the world for what it is
